Molly Picon (1898-1992) actress & Jacob Kalich (1892-1975) actor
Molly Picon was a star of the Yiddish stage and film world. In addition to her work as a Yiddish actress, she performed in a number of English-language roles, both on stage and in film. These appearances include Neil Simon’s Come Blow Your Horn, the musical Milk and Honey, and the film version of Fiddler on the Roof. Molly Picon and her husband, Jacob Kalich, were involved in a number of patriotic and humanitarian endeavors. During World War II and the Korean War, they performed for U.S. troops both at home and overseas. At the close of World War II, at their own expense, they traveled to Europe to visit and entertain displaced persons and concentration camp survivors. In her oral history interview she is joined by her husband and fellow performer Jacob Kalich.
